LA TIMES HOME AND DESIGN: Ackerman's Midcentury Style Back in Demand with Book, Film, Events

"A LOVE STORY IN MODERN STYLE"

Written by Kimberly Stevens

Kimberly Stevens captures the essence of what Katie Nartonis and Margaret Halkin highlight in their film, "In Tandem: the Life and Work of Jerry and Evelyn Ackerman." At the core of the Ackerman's productivity, was a solid heart of gold, the melded product of decades of devotion. The film premiers Valentine's Day at Palm Springs Modernism Week.

In the words of Jerry and Evelyn's daughter, Laura Ackerman Shaw, "Dave Weinstein of CA Modern came through again with another blog post on Modernism week and spotlights the Ackermans!!!!"

STEFAN KLEINSCHUSTER'S WORK SEEN IN LA TIMES BUSINESS SECTION

LA welcomes contemporary painter Stefan Kleinschuster to the art scene with an article in the LA Times about Keanu Reeves' Arch Motorcycle Company. Published on the front page of the Business section, November 15, 2014.

Hanging on the back wall of the bike bays are three of Stefan's paintings. Gard gets to spend his days putting together Arch's beautifully crafted bikes, surrounded by the living color of Kleinschuster's American Beauties.

If you have to work inside, transform your walls into windows by hanging a Kleinschuster. There are fewer ways to enhance your creativity, your health, when you are walled in. Open your space by way of invitation. Step into a rich surface of this size. and enjoy the ride.

Hanging behind Gard in the bays from left to right are:

C MAGAZINE: "PRETTY FLY" BY CATHERINE ELLSWORTH

In the October 2014 issue of C Magazine California Style, Catherine Ellsworth interviews Katie Nartonis and discovers what is so fly about Nicki Marx's work.

(Timing was just right, and good conversation with Katie just before this interview, inspired Heather Russell to lend a helping hand. The result became part of the bigger picture that is The Nartonis Project. Thank you to Heike Verleih and Nicki Marx!)
